Norman is one of Britain's most sought after musicians. He is a multi-instumentalist and plays in addition to trumpet/cornet, trombone, tenor sax, double bass and drums. He has played with many great musicians throughout the years such as Ken Colyer and Acker Bilk as well as visiting New Orleans regularly to play and record with local musicians.
When on cornet Norman is regarded as the leading exponent of the Bunk Johnson and De De Pierce New Orleans style of playing. His bell like tone, reminiscent of Bix Beiderbecke, and melodic lines gives the band its unique sound.
Norman has the ability to play in a variety of styles and this is reflected in the three main bands that he runs. He is also in constant demand from other band leaders to feature as a guest on cornet or to play as a sideman.
